9:00 am – 5:00 pm: Cowboy Festival, Children’s Activities and Western Marketplace on the grounds of the Museum
Sample the wares of vendors ranging from Western art to collectibles.
Enjoy entertainment throughout the day on two stages, including Western music, fast draw competitions, three performances of the Re-enactment of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and demonstrations of traditional Native American dances by the Big Mountain Family.
Plus, living history encampments with demonstrations of pioneer skills from bygone days.
The Kids Corner of the Festival and Symposium will feature a variety of free activities for children. They can create a slinky snake or a hand print horse, paint the “yard art” ponies, do some calf roping and have their face painted. There will also be pony rides available for a small charge.

2:00 pm: Western Variety Show in the Booth Ballroom featuring entertainment by Jim Dunham and Doc Stovall & the Tumbleweed Cowboy Band. Enjoy a special show of cowboy music, poetry, humor, gun tricks and more. Tickets are $10 for non museum members, $5 for members, and $5 for students.
7:00 pm: Concert in the Grand Theatre featuring Baxter Black.
Tickets for the concert are $25 for non Museum members and, $20 for Booth Museum members. A CD signing will follow the performance.

Western Concert Featuring Baxter Black
Saturday, Oct. 24, 7:00 pm in the Grand Theatre
Master of Ceremonies: Doc Stovall, Georgia’s Official Cowboy Balladeer and the Booth Museum’s Poet Laureate.
A CD signing will follow each show in the Encore Room adjacent to the Theatre.

World famous cowboy poet Baxter Black is known for work that focuses on the day-to-day ups and downs of everyday people who live with livestock and work the land. Formerly a large animal vet, Black entered into the world of cowboy poetry when he thought he was a songwriter. Now, more than 20 years later, Black has published over a dozen books of fiction, poetry, and commentary. He is a regular commentator on National Public Radio’s Morning Edition, hosts a weekly syndicated radio program, and writes a syndicated weekly newspaper column.

Cheyenne Sweatman-Fireside Trail Camp This camp is representative of a "trail camp" that was used during the annual round up. Set up by the ranch house cook as a semi-permanent camp, the "trail hands" would return at the end of a long hard day for a good cup of coffee, some "grub" and a bedroll to grab some "shut-eye".

Cactus Rose Saloon - Proprietors Tom Roper & Johnny Watts - The first documented "saloon" established in 1822, was Brown's Hole near the WY, CO, and UT border. Used not only for liquid refreshment and good card game, saloons were used as bathhouses and barbershops; post offices and drug stores; cigar stores and even courthouses, making this the center of social activity in a newly formed western town.
